APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FROM: ALL PERSONS INTERESTED PN: 39652 DIVISION: FACILITIES MANAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT SECTION: Light Construction WORK LOCATION: 6200 Wheeler St., Houston, TX 77023* WORKDAYS & HOURS: MON. - FRI. 6:30 AM - 3:30 PM* *Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS This individual will prepare, repair, and finish a variety of hard surfaces such as: • Setting and pulling concrete forms • Cutting and placing steel rods on studs • Batching, pouring, and finishing concrete and other masonry projects. • Perform basic maintenance and repairs to structures, facilities, and equipment (i.e., BBQ Pits, Picnic Tables, Trash Cans). • Use and operate various hand tools and equipment. • Review work orders and reports. • Perform other duties as needed. WORKING CONDITIONS The position involves considerable physical exertion, such as regular climbing of ladders, lifting of heavy objects (up to 80 pounds) on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions for long periods of time. There are routine exposures to significant levels of heat, cold, moisture and air pollution. The position may involve periodic exposure to chemical substances and physical trauma of a minor nature such as cuts, bruises and minor burns. EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to read, write, add, subtract and follow oral and/or basic written instructions as might normally be acquired through 9 to 11 years of formal schooling. No special knowledge of any subject area or technical field is required. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS One year of experience in cement or concrete finishing work is required. LICENSE REQUIREMENTSMust have a valid Class C Driver’s license and comply with COH policy on driving **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.**
